Ok my cousing gave me his Xbox damage !! The Hard Drive

Is damage !! So i open the xbox and check the drive it looks like a pc drive !!! Can i use a pc regular drive ??? What OS i have to use ? Where can i download the program that comes in the original Hard Drive ( the media player, Clock, ETC...)? Can this be done Any 1??????
