is it possible to wire up a seperate dc jack to the transformer inside the psone box to run directly from a 12v cigarette lighter with the neseccary voltage adapter and play the psone this way?

yes, you need a lighter socket adaptor that has selectable output voltages, but your best bet is to buy the battery pack and plug that in that way your ps1 doesnt die when you stop the car engine
