Updating to version 8 is "recommended", though version 8 has been criticised as "bloatware" that uses too much disk, RAM and startup preloading.

There is also a file replacement patch for V7.0.x, but no automation in applying it.


An alternative, though lacking IE Integration (and presumably lacking support for PDFs authored to V8), is Foxit PDF Reader

Foxit supports PDF standard 1.6, and is a 1.5MB download instead of over 20MB
