      Copyprotection

I heard this in a warez channel ....

"Bill introduced by Sen. Ernest Hollings, Democrat-South Carolina, would call for every electronics device to include a "copyright chip" that enforced a particular encryption scheme approved by the government. "

Geez,if this is true it sucks! These are the same people who hated Communism.Sounds like they are headed the same way, if a bill like this passes. Can you say opression of the people? What about freedom?

      Never Happen

If the US passed this bill everyone would just buy their devices from Japan or wherever.
It'd be too expensive for the manufacturers and consumers and would affect US imports and exports, which is of great importance to the US economy.
These bills are introduced to pacify the lobbyists for the film/music industry when in the end its the price of the product (film/music) which is the problem.
Its like introducing a bill to end world poverty.
Everyone would vote for it if they didnt have to pay for it.

Just a publicity stunt to get some crummy senator in the news.
