Some of "the others" (and much better than the ugly Win311-like Windows Commander IMHO):
- Servant Salamander: two pane NC clone (/www.altap.cz/salam_en/)
- Directory Opus: two pane AND treeview pane or many other forms (/www.gpsoft.com.au/)
- Magellan Explorer: nice but slow (/www.enriva.com/)

Hi M8.Originally posted by pokopiko
Some things that other filemanagers MAY do some day (the "archaic, 3.11 like" Windows Commander does them already):
1. View/extract ISO and cue/bin images.
2. Encrypt in standard as well as advanced (blowfish etc) form.
3. Act as FTP servers (!).
4. Make disk catalogs
5. Being used as backup utilities to UDF volumes (CDR or CDRW)
6. Processing (in+out) Installshield .cab files, ALL versions.
7. Opening Microsoft Installer files.
8. Processing Red Hat compliant installation packages! (.rpm).
9. Packing, unpacking and processing EVERY known compression format, plus some incredible things like Quake levels, Winimage disk images, java .jar files, Amiga .lzx and .dms, Unix z-files...
10. Let you make your own plugins (does not require any specific programming skills) for any operation left out (is any?).
Leaving aside the above supercoco is ABSOLUTELY right, his suggested filemanagers are much prettier and can do almost one tenth of what WC32 can do currently...
I agree with you that WC is top among filemanagers. However even though I used it some time I still haven't become reconciled with its "old" look. Therefore I don´t use it as an Explorer replacement in general. There are many other apps with Explorer like interface but as far as I know none has the features of WC.
And those feature rich apps are often also quite big and use lots of space and resources.
However you must explain the encryption thing..(Encrypt in standard as well as advanced (blowfish etc) form.) Is this done with a plug-in..or?

Windows Commander, Version 5.11,
I have used win commander for years and am now on version 5.11.
However there is another similar one which looks bang upto date and which you can deslect confirmations on copy move etc, which doesn't seem to work on win com.
The program I am refering to is Win NC 3000

You can down load the demo which is dully functional but unfortunately I can't find a working crack unless someone out there can help me.

I've been using Windows Commander for as long as I can remember. The best endorsement I can give it is to say, that its actually worth purchasing
If you do decide to use Windows Commander please check out h**p://www.maxwish.tk for plugins, tools, and addons.

wincommander blegh
missing simple but necessary features like total and sub folder size are not provided; proggy's of 47KB(PFM) do so, but this bloated program gives up.
IMHO it's a proggy for freaks, kicking on gadgets like encryption things, but surely not a serious filemanager for straight purposes.

nice one pokopiko.....Win Commander for me too...simple fast...and me ftp client all into one
There is only one other filemanager for me - 2xExplorer

The dual pane view is ideal for directory compare, while the preview is handy for photos (Though IrfanView / XnView / SlowView are better for thumbnail browsing)
