I've used many of them in the past, and I concur dBASE IV was the crappiest program in the known universe (needless to say, it was extremely popular!). I have virtually no uses for Sexploiter 6 (only updating 2000/XP, which I can stand for as long as it takes...), and fortunately enough I never bought a DeathStar 75GXP, or an Iomega ZipDrive --I have one which I got for free, but I never used it, because I preferred buying a real tape drive... today DVD-RAM drives are dirt cheap and 100% reliable for backups. DBaseIII was rather slow, but working pretty decently!
At that time, half my income was coming from works charted and organized in dBASE... everything was running fine, until the day I decided to "upgrade" to dBASEIV. I had to (virtually) rebuild all my databases (some NINE WEEKS' hard work!) to repair the havoc created by dBASE IV... I wouldn't wish that to happen, even to my worst enemy! As for Wordstar- believe it or not, I never used it... I was a VolksWriter guy! (I guess most people today have never heard about this legendary text editor...).
