      Need help using InstallWatch

      I just downloaded InstallWatch:
      http://www.epsilonsquared.com/

I understand that it takes snap-shots of the computer to compare with snap-shops made prior to installing new software.

My question is how is this beneficial from a practical point of view?
There is no 'undo' feature that I can see. So can one revert the computer to an earlier snap-shot?

I'm not saying the program is not useful, I'm just trying to understand how the comparison of different snap shots will make things easier for cleaning out problematic software (it seems that there is an immense amount of changes made that would take forever to correct).

The value of 'export registry' is easy to understand, but is this all the program can do help revert to an earlier state?

It must be that there is something I am overlooking or that I'm not clueing in to what is obviously an amazing enhancement to have.

It simply shows u the changes made to your system.. u can undo the registry but not other changes.. if u are looking for a full uninstaller try 'Total Uninstaller' =)

With Installwatch, you MUST add "ini" to files that have content tracked, and then take a snapshot - otherwise you will know that an INI was changed, but not how.

Using version tracking, takes FOREVER - unless you are seriously worried about DLL version updates, don't

Also exclude internet cache and other temp directories, or MANY insignificant changes will be noted.

I have used it a lot to see what's left behind when I uninstall a program. To do this you have to make 4 snap-shots. Two during install and two during uninstall. Then compare and se what's left behind and remove this manually. In other words..it's not an uninstaller.
