      OfficeXP Service Packs

With the recent release of Service Pack NUMBER TWO for OfficeXP......I thought I would actually grab the two packs and update my copy.

BUT....WTF.....I can't even install the first one*....it keeps on giving some PATCHING ERROR.

I have brought up the TASK MANAGER and killed all background applications.....I ran MSCONFIG and unclicked most of programs and rebooted.....I tried it on a completely different computer.....and with exasparated desparation, I even did a whole clean installation of WindowsXP. Guess what....it still doesn't work!!!

Anybody else had this problem? Is there a way to fix it? Can I get in a queue and sue Bill Gates?

      * You need to install service pack one before you can install the second one.

      I'm Corny Fused?

I don't get it....you send me a link to something that looks like StarOrifice?

I don't even know what the "mso.dll patcher" is you are refering to. I'm using a Corporate edition of OfficeXP that doesn't even require to be registered.

      1) Go here:
      h**p://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;en-us;Q325671

      2) Download the administrative update (filename oxpsp2a.exe)

      3) Put your Office XP cd in your cd-rom drive
      4) Click start
      5) Click Run
      6) Type "D:\setup /a" (This will install a VALID ADMINISTRATIVE POINT INSTALLATION)
      7) Specify the Organization/CD-Key/And location (make location C:\Office)
      8) Let it install

      9) Extract the oxpsp2a.exe to (C:\adminupdate)

      10) Click Start
      11) Click Run
      12) Type "msiexec /p C:\adminupdate\MAINSP2ff.msp /a C:\Office\proplus.msi"
      13) DON'T specify Organization/CD-Key/ or change the location
      14) Let it install

      15) Click Start
      16) Click Run
      17) Type "msiexec /p C:\adminupdate\Owk10SP2ff.msp /a C:\Office\owc10.msi"
      18) DON'T specify Organization/CD-Key/ or change the location
      19) Let it install

      20) Click Start
      21) Click Run
      22) Type "msiexec /i C:\Office\proplus.msi REINSTALL=ALL REINSTALLMODE=vomus"

      I forgot to say:
      1) Without quotes
      2) oxpsp2a.exe is about 50mb
      3) This is the administrative update so you don't have to install sp1 first
      4) Give OpenOffice a try.
