I suggest you use DFT (Drive Fitness Test) here: h**p://www.storage.ibm.com/hdd/support/download.htm#DFT

SMART does not always catch impending malfunctions. DFT has helped me find my hd was malfunctioning. I kept having crashes but I did not have any msgs indicating my hd was at fault...
