I Cannot keep a steady connection with E Donkey?

I have a 56k, yes, but with WinMX and normal downloading i average 3 - 4kb/s, on E Donkey im lucky to get over 1, and even then, it drops to 0.6.

How do i fix this?, and/or can i?

you need a good serverlist;
my favorite is _http://www.thedonkeynetwork.com/pl/tdn.pl?site=serverlist.html > server.met > the good ones

open ports 4661 to 4665 in your desktop firewall;
proxies and routers in a homenetwork are problematic;
