this is looking familiure with me.
iv gone from athlon 1700+,to a p4 2g.all iv changed is the motherboard, well the shop did
iv just reformatted my drive,i have a few apps or big isos that have crc error.
iv got winraw ,winace, winzip& there addon+7zip.

iv got 256ddr ram everything has been fine untill the last month.
i run xp but have the latest sp1& always update.
for some strange reason my cpu goes to max ,mainly with ie.
my ram will go to nothing.in fact sometimes the pf usage thing goes as high as 500/700mbs.
i had put it down to not enough ram & having a lot of graffic types of apps.so i reformatted with a lot less apps on the hd.
this is still not any better.some times can fly along & then other times go as slow as a win3.1.
im getting to wonder if its more down to ie,with the latest sp1.
the older sp1s never gave me any probs.

yes im on bb,i use flashget now & sometimes internet dl manager.& net pumper for the antileech sites.
will have to give the sp1 a miss next time round.

Its definitely Ram problem,i went nuts over this problem a month ago, after doing 4 formats and several other tasks i found out my second Ram slot was the reason behind this.
You should check your Ram or Ram Slot.

Use newest winrar3.20 final and be sure its a retail version--with serial(no patched one)..This could be it???

Keypatched and "Corporate" Winrar versions (which are non-existing of course, thay are a warez invention) do have this problem.
Next time check out if the software you buy is of good quality!

It can be caused by the download manager/Ftp Client. I had this problems in the past with some Ftp clients on some servers. FlashFXP and WS Ftp was two clients that often caused CRC errors. I tried a lot of different apps and the result was that Ftp Voyager and CuteFtp Pro was the most reliable solutions. Never had CRC errors with any of those two clients. The best download manager is, IMHO, Mass Downloader..never fail. But as always..the best is to try different apps and find what is best for you..
