Once your LAN is setup, you can share the line if you are using Windows 2000/XP on the machine that is connected to the modem directly without any extra hardware.
Windows allows peer-to-peer networking as part of it's "feature" set so you do not require any software to allow the PC's to chat.
In the Network/Dial Up the last tab for the modem allows you set this up. It's not terribly reliable - strange that for a M$ productand sometimes refuse to dial from the remote machine.
WinGATE is also supposed to do this exceptionally well, although I have never used it. You can d/l WinGATE (cracked) from:
