If you want to use your Drive ONLY for Playing DVD movies, then it doesn't really matter, the faster the better.
I like Toshiba DVDROM's in general. They are not the fastest for DAE, but are great for reading my protected CD's.

I was thinking of buying a dvd drive
but i would like to here what u guys have to say about the
Pioneer DVD 106S 16xDVD 40xCD
i've read alot of posts and many of you suggest liteon drives are best
which drive/model would you guys recommend?

Im buying a dvdrom to replace my existing cdrom (Toshiba XM-6402B) - so it will need to be a damn good reader of protected cds and backups as well as playing dvd movies
Im not sure if the LTD-165 is avail over here, UK, as yet. If the liteon isnt availble - i had my heart set on a Pioneer (see above) - but not sure how good it is - any views ?

The Liteon is available in the Uk I ahave just ordered one from John Lewis's w*w.gb.buy.com at £42.42 inc postage This is with the £15 voucher available from w*w.lineone.net Though one has to wait at the moment as I am doing as out of stock
