IDE burners are fine, but IMO SCSI is better. If you can, switch to the SCSI world. Best performance, best reliability, best flexibility.

Pardon me for not standing.
Plextor 16/10/40 is a very good drive - but im not sure if theres a scsi version ? i cant remember - it can do protected cds too thought might need extra help from clonecd to make backups of sd2 discs -
its pretty cheap now, with all these new 20 and 24 speeds writers being released
as for ide or scsi -
well 1st thing is do u have a scsi interface on the motherboard ? or do u have a scsi card already - if u do - its worth considering scsi
yeah scsi gives u all these benefits and so on as our friend above pointed out, but ide is comparably as fast as scsi drives these days.
scsi is nearly always going to be more expensive than ide.
if u have the extra cash go for scsi - if not - ide is good enough
Yup, Shadey, you're 100% right. I agree with your oppinions.
Plextor 161040 and newer are only IDE. Last SCSI burner by Plextor was the outstanding 121032S.

THank U guys.
Here in India the cost of SCSI drive is double then IDE.
So i going for plextor 16/10/40x.
Again Thank U very much for Your Reply.
hmm,the 16X Plex can't read Subs.
the 3200S Yammie is the fastest 24X SCSI Drive.
