      AUTSCH !

This is the way big companys go ...
I remember that Compaq PCs only took Compaq RAMs ..
With other modules the system didn´t boot ..
So yeah, thanks for the info !
I build my PCs up by myself, no need for feeding a big company with even MORE money ...

I always support the little companys ...
First I had a AMD, then I bought 3DFX graphic card, and now a ATI 3D card ...

the best thing about building your own pc is that you dont have to pay for the os

      Ne got a Dell

My PC was "aquired" from my old job - big advantage having 24hr access but I've tried filling it full of RAM and the B*stard thing won't take anything form the local suppliers. Grrrr.

I gotta spend over double to upgrade it.

The guys are right tho' - build your own - it's a lot easier to keep it upto date and the price is right

      Ehm, yes ...
It sucks that Dell and other companies do such things, and we should show them about how WE think about this, by not buying their products ..

I would never say, that their PCs are ****ty ..
But the stuff they do is ****ty ..

      IMHO

As They Get Bigger They Get Sex Mad.

This Gives Them The Desire To F**k Everyone & Everything In Sight. They Sometimes Even Join Forces To Gang Bang U.

Unfortunately The Easiest To F**k Are The Customers & In Most Cases The Smaller Companies.

Yes These Corporations Idea Of Customer Service Is
      "Please Lie Down While I F**k U"

I have been wondering how to sum up the big companies and their sharp tactics, you have explained it perfectly.

This just confirms to me that stupidity is a major consideration in getting credit as an expert. I can't believe this guy does lectures.

This idiot who wrote that, confirms his stupidity numerous times in the article. One example, I quote, "For example during a momentary lapse of reason in the early-'90s I had purchased a Packard Bell system." Everyone knew and knows Packard Bell's are proprietary. To this day, they still suffer from expandability problems.

This guy is a relative newbie acting like an expert. Dell's unique power supply to motherboard problem, shouldn't concern anyone!
A new power supply (required to fix this problem) when purchasing a new motherboard is an additional $30. Even if not required, it's still a good idea to purchase a new one while upgrading. It would save you from having to do it a few weeks later when your old power supply die. So big freakin deal! Where is the conspiracy!

He mentions many atrocities made by the likes of Packard Bell, Compaq, etc.. and then adds in Dell as if this was in some way in league with pc's that require to be tossed in the garbage in leu of being upgraded.

Dell has been, and always will be, the brand to buy for any person not able to build there own pc. The cases alone for Dell, get 5 stars in most reviews for ease of access. Not to mention all the other, now industry standards, that they've developed.

If you still don't believe me, look at his last statment. "Fortunately others like Gateway and Micron have remained true to the industry standard." Gateway is plague with non-industry standards (type GATEWAY SUCKS in any seach engine), and Micron Computers have been bankrupt for awhile now leaving customers stranded. Also, Micron computers were the biggest pieces of crap I've ever worked on (they use tape to hold IDE connections!).

In closing.. Anyone considering a new computer should buy a Dell.. unless they can build one themselves. Anyone saying otherwise.. is either a newbie or full of crap.
