      Question Plex 40x12x40A

Hey everyone I just got a plex 40x12x40A for $159 and I've not seen any info here anywhere. I was woundering if it was a good choice. I had heard it would burn the new game's. I had a sony 8x4x32, and could not burn a working copy of ghost recon with it so I got the plex. My software for now is clone cd beta 21 and the newest cdmate. Woundering if I made good choice on all. Any info sure would be helpful. Thanks guys-n-gals.

Its a pretty good drive brat...but its not as good a the LiteOn 40125S. There are many reviews on this (not just an opinion).

I evaluated a Plex 401240A for three weeks and found it to be pretty good...but it's negatives caused me to return it.

      Negatives:
      1) Very finicky on CDR media
      2) Does not do Latest Safedisk 2 (although with new CloneCD beta some have had success)
      3) Does not copy some newer CD Audio protections
      4) Price. The LiteOn is $50-60 USD cheaper

Interesting thing...the store I purchased the Plex at had every (5 actually) Plex 40x drives returned. IE, they were opened/used and were returned due to customer dissatisfastion (I made the count 6).

Previously I was a Plex devotee (still have my Plex 8432A), but the LiteOn 40125S changed all that. Yes, it's that good!

      Thumbs up Thanks guys

I had heard the plex was the best so I found it at best buys an got it. It works a whole lot better than the sony I had. I guess I'll keep this one and give it and this computer to my son when I get or build my next computer. Thanks for the info guys, Sure wish I had found you guys and cdrsoft sooner. SEE YA

Hey don't feel bad man...that Plexy is still a good drive.

Just make sure to update to latest firmware as it is supposed to help (a little) with the finicky CDR media problem.

      okay

plextor is good but there is two things i dont like about plextor and lite-on LACK OF WRITING MODES

negatives for plextor picky on cdr's
      cant copy most audio protection

negatives for Lite-on lack of writing modes
cant copy audio protections at all

if u really looking for a drive that can do it all go to a TDK VELOCD the 32x 12x 40xB can copy most safedisk cd it can copy protected audio cd

One thing to remember about the Plextors,is the original firmware usually sucks. There are frequent firmware updates that always improve it's capabilities.First impressions of this drive can be deceiving.
