      CenDyne 32x12x40x- any good?

Just curious. I just picked up a CenDyne 32x12x40x CD-RW for $54 retail in the box.
Is this burner any good? I'd like to know before I open it & install.
      Thanks

RW thinking it could be an OEM Liteon? If so not a bad price for a top burner.

      according to the article--yes
according to BestBuy-a local electronics retail in USA
the ad shows burn proof technology--not smart burn like was mentioned in earlier posts

***this is for my local area--not necessarily any where else but i think the one they have by me is an acer rebadged and it is 79.99
      for that similar model

seems cen-dyne is using what ever it can get its hands on
so be careful with this one

Ageed, you must be careful with rebadgers.Check it out carefully!Cendyne buys from other manufacturers, they could change drives many times.Smartburn would be the giveaway, as Roadworker mentioned. The article I posted also said to be careful.

Hmmmmm...I haven't opened the box. On the box it claims to have BurnProtection Technology, Data Buffer Memory 16MB, access time 95 ms. Does not seem to be a LiteOn from what is said above. Maybe I should return it.
I looked at the article review posted above....the box in the picture also said BurnProtection Technology. So far Lite on & Acer web sites both claim a Data Buffer Memory of 2 MB while it is stamped on the box of my burner as 16 MB.
Any clues as to what I may have?

is there anything else on the box that might lead you to believe that it is a lite on and not an acer???

i wonder if the site mentioned would have anything on the acer that could be in your box???

just becaue it is an acer may not mean that it is a bad purchase

just something to think about--yeah i know just ONE more thing to think about

ok ok-just checked acers web site--they have nothing listed for a 32x cdwriter their best is 24X Writing 10X Rewriting 40X Reading
do not know how often the site is updated but
**just my guess-it is not an acer-do not know if it is a lite on

At the moment the liteon seems to be the best drive for sd2 including new sd2 v2.51

I purchased the CenDyne 32x12x40 and found a Verbatim drive inside. It uses BURNproof. It does not have any markings that would indicate that it is a rebranded LITE-ON. I am happy with the performance for the price but would also like to see any reviews of this drive.
