      Primary/Secondary IDE suggestions?

Hello all. I just got a new system using XP and it has an ATA100 onboard controller.

The vendor put the hard drive on the first controller and the dvd/cd rom and 24x10x40 writter on the other.

All is OK, but doesn't clonecd want the reader and writter on seperate controllers for a copy on the fly? Should I leave the writter on the secondary and move the dvd/cd to primary with the Hard Drive?

      TIA

Yep,writer should be secondary master.Cd/Dvdrom drive should be primary slave. That is the best setup for on the fly copying.I never use on the fly,so the original configuration would be fine for me.

Make sure the jumpers are set correctly on the hardware when you do move them.

Thanks Woody. I will look as well to see if they are using CS. I may leave it alone as I do not do that much cd to cdr copying and the HDD may be better off on its own.

I was surprised, as the vendor put in an NEC 7900a. I was expecting another Liteon 24102b but must admit this NEC seems to be doing all the LiteOn does...even overburn.
