      What would be the best replacement

      OK guys I have had a 4/2/20 scsi for the last 4 years but she has come to the end of her life span, would like to pick your brains and ask what is the best replacement for her, I have a ultrapleX40 rom and both drives were running on an Adaptec AHA2940uw scsi card so would I be better sticking with a scsi or would I be ok to get an ide, I am not worried which I get as long as the performance is good between the 2 drives, was just maybe worried about copying from a scsi drive to an ide but I am sure it will be ok, can you please help and recomend what would be the best replacement thx.

      yup...


      a. if you got a scsi combo. it`s realy insane to switch to ide...

      b. in the scsi world.. plex. & teac rules (burners)
      as long the drive reads&write the wanted modes..
      the speed is something that i find "secondary"

      c. you got a adaptec card.. i think adaptec sux.. big time..
      but i have read some good reviews on this spesific card..

      so stick with it for now......

      I agree with roadworker.... I have had 2 SCSI burners in the past 5 years.

      The last combo being a TEAC CDR56S-6 and a CD-532S.

      The reason for this combo was so I could copy disk to disk on the fly.

      With clonecd, Nero and the like, this is not necesary any more.

      I purchased a LiteOn 24x10x40 CDRW last month and it Leaves the TEAC for dead.

      700meg in 5 min instead of 17min and with bufferunderun protection, my beer

      coasters are a thing of the past, not that I had that many with TEAC.

      The LiteOn is brilliant and only 185 Australian $.

      The TEAC's were $Aus650 when I purchased them a few years ago.

      A new 40gig+ HD and a IDE burner for the same money as a SCSI burner,

      you can't go wrong.

      Roadworker is right but i am very sad that that the better technic (scsi) is dying

      It´s like the old days of video....Beta (Sony)was dying and the bad VHS is still alive.
