Laptop cd-rw for game backups
I am looking to upgrade the cd-r drive in my laptop to a cd-rw and was wondering if anyone has had any experience using these slim drives in backing up games and the like. I've searched and reviews of these drives that include performance with different types of copy portection is nearly nonexistant.
The choice of available drives is 'slim' (sorry, couldn't resist) I have found:samsung SN-324FEN, toshiba SD-R6112 and SD-R2512, panasonic UJDA330, sony CRX830e, and the liteon LSC-24082K. I am leaning toward the liteon as their regular drives have been excelent.thanks |

http://www.cdrinfo.com/Sections/Arti...1MX%29&index=8 - If the Liteon keeps up the same result as the 24081 model, it looks like it fits your needs. A miserable result on protected audio though, and as you say, not many reviews on slimline drives.

Another thing to bear in mind if you replace your laptop cdr with a cdrw is that to play back-up copies of safedisc 2.41+/3.x, securom new or securom 4.8x/5.x games from the new drive you will need an atip hiding utility (e.g. CloneCD's hide cdr media or alcohol's Ignore media type).
