I have this drive too, for a while now.

      Stop looking !

The reason you can't find any firmware is coz there's not been an update to the original firmware that comes with the drive.

Doesnt sony ever upgrade their firmware, or are they like Panasnoic where they never do it?

I had a creative 8x32 which i flashed with a plextor firmware and it worked. Mind you from then on it was detected as a Plextor. Lucky me with my two sony 140 and 145 , I could never find an upgrade

Houman, you were one of the lucky ones, getting a Plextor rebadge.Creative switched to Samsungs and Panasonics.People thought they were getting a Plex!

Afterall Creative did put 8432 on the box!

I think they left the picture of the Plex on all the boxes too!

roadworker - No problem, my cheap Lite-on has done over 700 burns and still no coaster. And honestly, I don't miss the Sony

Woodsy: Yeah I was one of the lucky ones. Went to buy another and got stuck with a Panansonic

There was a bios upgrade for the Sony 140 (issued by HP) but only the IDE version, not the SCSI version that I had. Then again, it never needed a new BIOS anyway as it did everything the box said it would do and burn "quite a few" CD's. I gave it to my son when I got the LiteOn 24x. Its still going strong !
