ACER CRW2010A What It can & can't do.

Hi, I was after some Info On the Acer 2010a, a friend of mine has this drive.

I believe It can backup SD2 disks but how Is It with SecuRom all versions and Laserlock protections ?.

I know In Clone Cd supported writers list It say It does Raw Dao 94 & correct EFM encoding.

Just 1 more thing are there any real differences In this model I ask this as there Is quite a few different Firmware versions out there for the same 2010A drive.

My friends has H.BK firmware and was manufactured December 2001.

Hi bud.It can't read subchannel audio or data(according to Elby site).It can write all Securom.It probably is a slow reader with Laserlock,etc.It has problems with protected PSx(libcrypt).It can write 'perfect' SD2.

That's about all I can see bud.Firmware upgrades are probably mostly for media compatiblity and other small improvements.

I would find a good reader to go with it.

I don't think my friend does Psx stuff anyway, but she does have a few games with SecuRom protection and I wasn't sure how well Raw Dao 94 did this protection for me to be of any help to her.

I have an acer crw 16x10A and i kept getting errors on everything i burnt my machine was always locking up i tried that many programs all did the same thing. Ihave just brought a Sony 24x10 and havent had any trouble at all i put the acer in my other computer and it kept coming up with errors.I would recommend the sony to everyone the model number is CRX175E.

I have the 12x and a Hiatachi dvd have burnt every disk that has been brought to me. read with the DVD and no problems this will
wright sub but not read them has been a great burner for me.
got 4 buds with max payne that will agree :-)
