2.2 GHz Pentium 4
The new version of Intelīs Pentium 4 will be officially released in January, but the chip is already being sold in Japan since December 27th. A PC with the new processor is already available in Akihabara electronics district in Tokyo.
The big news around the 2.2GHz processor is that it is the first one built with Intel Northwood core, that comes with 512KB layer 2 cache memory included.
Retail prices may vary from US$609 to US$624. In Japan it is being sold for US$460. Experts believe consumers will be able to buy the chips for much less, since Pentium 4 chips prices are going down fast.
