Hi bud.Nice gift! It is best as secondary master.Use the Plex as secondary slave. That would be the best configuration.Leave the Primary Channel as it is.![]()

i have just recieved a new hdd for xmas, a IBM 60GXP 60Gb 7200rpm 2mb cashe.
The one im using now is exactly the same.
My question is where should i put the 2nd hdd?
at the moment, this is my setup:
IDE1 :
IBM 60GXP 60Gb as MASTER
IDE2 :
Plextor CDRW as MASTER
Pioneer DVD as SLAVE
should i put it on IDE1 as SLAVE?????
i need to know this because i once heard that it might degrade performance?
I need to know this because i rip data from radio and video and dont want the performance or disk speed slowed down!

Hi bud.Nice gift! It is best as secondary master.Use the Plex as secondary slave. That would be the best configuration.Leave the Primary Channel as it is.![]()
So woody like this:
IDE1
Ibm 60GXP 60gb as MASTER
Pioneer DVD as SLAVE
IDE2
Ibm 60GXP 60gb as MASTER
Plex CDRW as SLAVE
????????
Yep,That's correct bud. That will ensure the best data transfer between devices.Merry Christmas!
thanxz alot
Are my drives gonner be slower in anyway now or exactly the same performance as with only 1 hdd?????
No loss of performance at all.![]()
final check before i make the change:
IDE1
Ibm 60GXP 60gb as MASTER
Pioneer DVD as SLAVE
IDE2
Ibm 60GXP 60gb as MASTER
Plex CDRW as SLAVE
is that right?
the cable arent long enough as my hdd are in the 3.5" and the cdrw/dvd in 5" bays
****???
Try moving your cd writer and Dvd rom to acommodate the cabling.Just switch bays.
Or go to your original plan, two hard drives on Primary channel. It is always best however to have the dvd rom and your writer on separate channels.
the hdd is ATA100, what cables would i need for this.
The ones with 1 black and 1 grey header?
There should be cables that came with the drive. They have 80 wires in them.Standard cables have 40.Use the ide cable shipped with the new hard drive.
Remember to set the jumper pins on the back of drives you move.
Have you settled on a configuration yet?
well i have no choice but to set it as slave on ide1.
IDE1 :
IBM 60GXP 60Gb as MASTER
IBM 60GXP 60Gb as SLAVE
IDE2 :
Plextor CDRW as MASTER
Pioneer DVD as SLAVE
But if its gonner degrade system performance then i dont think im gonner install it, probably just sell it
i was gonner use it as a dump for all my mp3z and divxz.
woody do u use icq/msn or mirc??????
Yeah, I use ICQ,but I'm on my way out.Pm me please.
Cdrw and dvd/rom on the same channel will cause problems with on the fly copying, that's all probably. No big deal if you always copy to hard drive first.
Dvdrom drive should be master with last configuration BTW.
whats on the fly copying?
