      Post 8/4/32 Plex & 24/10/40 Plex

      Hi all First post here!!

Any one tell me if its possible to copy from 8/4/32 Plex to the 24/10/40 Plex, if i want to backup the likes of a SD2 protected game, using the likes of CloneCD??? (and so not have to use the 24/10/40 for reading and writing)

      Does that make sense??

      Cheers

      Del

Hi Delbert.Welcome to the forum!Yes, use the Plex 8432 as the reader. It is an excellent reader. Then burn the image with the 24X Plex, perfect SD2 copies without patching.

Ah, Many Thanks woody....Thats the reply i was looking for, Also...if you got a mo........ 1 more thing...

On the back of the Plex 24/10 (TLA 202)it has pins with DMA on it, do i have to use the jumper so that i get DMA mode in win2k? Ive tried it on and off, and gone in to device manager and its in PIO mode? Even though i have set it to DMA if availble(have installed the latest inf drivers from intel)....The other cdrom drives appear to be in DMA mode....any ideas Wooody?

      Cheeers and thks in advance

      Hey!

Not sure if you knew, but your Plex 8432 does perfect
Safedisk2 copies now with the latest CloneCD (latest
      version is 3221).

Until recently, this was the only copy protection the
8432 couldn't perfectly copy. Actually it could copy,
but because it didn't copy the "weak sectors" well
it had to be used in the 8432 to work.

Personally, I WAS going to upgrade to a Plex 241040,
but my 8432 is still a damn fine burner. And now with
the new CloneCD there is no need.

Delbert,I'm not sure on you DMA problems, never used Win2K.But leave that jumper in the original position. It doesn't do anything, that I know of.

Dxkim is also correct that the 8432 works with AWS in new Clone versions for SD2.Firmware version 1.09 is recommended.

Glad you sorted it out Delbert.Didn't want to mention the bios.I know a couple of people who messed their systems up by changing settings in the bios.Maybe I'll add a disclaimer next time if I mention it!

Leave the Plex without the jumper.Works excellent as shipped!

From Plextor manual-the pins should not have a jumper,It is set at the factory for Ultra DMA mode 2.If your system hangs or crashes use the jumper to change to DMA mode.

No problem m8! Yes, we all like are toys

Just wanted to give you the heads up. Don't get me wrong
the Plex 242040 is a damn fine burner, but your 8432 is
      still quite good.

Personally, I'm going to wait for the Plex 32x burner that
should come out in 1st quarter next year.
