I am beginning to hate Nero with Xp. Have you disabled the Xp burning program?

Here is what I've discovered about Xp.It works much better as a fresh install.I used a separate partition to install Xp,I used the Ntfs files system.I updated the aspi layer before I installed any cdr software.Aspiinst initiated Windows to find new hardware(cdrom drive).Aspi 32 then updated and found my two cd-writers.I then deactivated the burning soft in Xp.

I installed Nero 5551 afterwards and it works fine.I usually use the Nero wizard for data cd's,it has not let me down so far.I avoid manual settings. The wizard autoconfigures the settings,so that's one less hassle.

It's odd that you can write Mp3's and not data cd's.I would disable the Xp burning software first.

Troubleshooting Nero with Xp is not one of my favourite topics, there are so many variables.Anybody who frequents cdrforums knows just how many problems there are with Nero. Then add Xp to the mix....Argh....

There seems to be lots of bugs since about version 5524.The best overall had to be 5048.

Oh...if it says medium not writable it could because you already wrote to the cdr, even if it wasn't successful..

      oyy.......

woody.. me 2 was pissed over e 5551 ver.
som say bugghouse deluxe.. & am partly agree.
after my misshapp.. with e 5551.. i formated my hdd (4 other reasons) installed 5504 iso.. & tried uppgrading with 5551..
now all my sorrows was over.. but i think this is not a sulution 2
      e above.. since 5504 didn`t support XP..

(i run xx9.. must have e alt cdfs.. driver.. supriced over that
cyber 7 haven`t made a 2K or XP ver. tough..)

besides: i am deffinitly shure a valid key.. is better than a crack
in this case... some1.. said 2 me that some software vendors
supply lisences depended on op. system..
if this is e case with e latest build from ahead.. there ain`t
no supprice that so many have probb`s... with the 5551..

Husk24...I'm definitely not an expert on Nero bud.I'm glad yours is working now.To disable the internal writing program in Xp.
Go to>My computer and right click on the CD Recorder. If your CD recorder was detected as a CD recorder there will be a tab named >recording. On this tab uncheck ALL of the boxes>then apply.

Noman68:Nero (Ahead)want to sell their program, like all the other software companies. They spend a lot of time blacklisting serials and keygens. This is where most of the people's problems come from.

I have had Nero 5540 and 5551 working successfully in XP.I don't know if I was lucky or what.I go to my 'favourite' places and use the software from there and the crack or serial. If you D/L from the Nero site, then use a serial you 'find' you are asking for trouble.

A Nero rep frequents one of the popular forum sites for input ,and has admitted there are bugs in the program. So there you have it.

After the official release of XP we will see better support for burning programs, etc.
I am using NTFS with Xp,but many people say to use FAT32 for better compatibility. So far NTFS is fine for me.
