I've looked everywhere and cannot find a copy of direct cd. Anyone help with a link?
many thanks
Any drag and drop alternative to direct CD? Needs to work with Windows XP. I've tried iCD from ahead and this crashes XP and puts it into endless restart loop.
Take a look at this thread bud.Maybe it will be useful.

If it's such a crap, why did you grab it mate???Originally posted by pokopiko

It says 5.1 update, but in fact it is DCD 5.1 FULLVERSION!- at least it was a fullversion by the time I was notified and grabbed it. Maybe they have made a mistake...
And you will also make a mistake if you install and use this crap, of course.
Maybe to give to your secretary?
Or to anyone else, not so computer-minded as you?
Admit it Pokopiko, this is a good and foolproof program for anyone *working* with a pc, not knowing anything about computers or burning programs.
Before calling anythig 'crap', maybe you should consider the target group.
You have to download (buy) and test a software before you can say it´s good or bad.
As you see Pokopiko did it right.
( I am sure that he knew that it is crap ....before he had done a test)
Say Pokopiko, I saw you recommending FileCD 2.5xx as the best packet writer, do you know where I can get a working exemplar of it?
I'd like to have a look at it, maybe add it to my collection...
All I can find is version 1.7, and I'm not terribly impressed.
I'd appreciate it very much if you can pass a link.
Thanks.
Hi,POKOPIKO
may i have also, the link to get FileCD 2.0.15?
Thank's mate![]()
I followed your instructions and it worked very nicely.
I've played around with it for a couple of days.
It's great that you can start and terminate it when you want. That's something all should follow. Actually, it should be mandatory. Nobody will accept a car stereo that you can't switch off on demand, but some computer programs are just like that.
I also like that they found a way to do packet writing with iso standard, which is immediately readable on all systems.
The whole program is compact and very easy on resources. I deleted the only vxd from the Iosubsys folder, and it didn't mind at all, even tho I have Win98. This way I could keep the Nero vxd active, which is the way I like. Further it doesn't write more than a couple of tiny keys to the registry, which is great. I suspect with a full "official" installation it will be a bit more than that, but still sure not a registry polluter. Nice![]()
What I do miss is that you can't save into the drive directly from applications, and that you can't drag 'n drop within Windows explorer. The "send to" function is something, but not enough. Also a bit annoying is that after every action you get the pop up window prompting to open and close the tray.
The biggest shortcoming is that FileCD can only write to CDRW's. If it could do CDR's it would have been a real winner, in my book.
So thank you very much again, I don't think it's going to stay for long on my system, but I'm sure it's a good step in the right direction. Maybe Mt Rainer is the ultimate solution, we shall soon see.
A very happy and healthy new year,

Thank's both of you,for install procedure and test by Civilus.
