Smile Which CD Burner burns best?

      Hi,
i have been using CloneCD to burn copies of games i have, or my friends have so we can all play them, but lately CloneCD has been failing me. It would make copies of the CDs but they wouldn't work correctly, like Ghost Recon would ask for another CD, it thinks its missing a .dat file, Empire Earth just wouldn't flat out work. I have windows XP and CloneCD version 3.2.1.1.

Is there another program that makes perfect copies? Or am I not using CloneCD correctly?

Thanks in advance for the help, this site is awesome

Hi bud.Welcome to the forum!Let us know the make of burner you are using. Are you using a copy protection detector?Clone cd definitely works with compatible hardware.Lastly,if it worked before, try upgrading to the latest release,it is supposedly optimized for XP.

      hmm

actually, i have no idea of the make of the drive. I bought my computer with gateway about a year and a half ago. I looked in device manager and it says: "IDE-CD R/RW 8x4x32" And under manufacturer it says: "Standard CD Rom drives". So i looked on the receipt i have, and all it says is: "Read and Write 8x/4x/32x IDE CD Rom".

Is there another way i can find out?

      Thanks for the help Woody.

And about this copy protection detector, i don't think i am because i didn't even know they existed, hehe Sorry

Well usually packaged systems have a Philips or LG writer. You might luck out and find the manufacturer of the drive on top of the bare drive itself. It is (usually) there on a sticker on top of the drive.Or you can contact Gateway with the computer model#,but I'm not sure they would even know.Anyways, below is detector info for you.

      Detector

A good detector is necessary to find the protection on your game.It is a program that searches the files on your game.Once it is installed you place the game in your writer and enable the scan button. When it finds the protection you enable the Clone button .It will send the proper settings to your software,(Clone cd).

Just fix the link and paste into your browser.

      sorry

sorry to bother you again Woody, but when i try to install Clony, it says "wnaspi32.dll not found, please install the Aspi driver..." I ran a search for it and i have no such file. I ran an online search for clony, and found another version and i had the same problem

      hmm

i went into windows help, it says that ASPI is not included in Windows XP (or any NT based windows). Is there anyway i can resolve this that you know of?

      ahh

you are going to love this. I installed the ASPI drivers and now my dvd rom and cdr rom aren't recognized... i tried updating the drivers, but no luck windows uses the same ones and there are no newer versions...

Well looks like system restore might have saved the day!I am still concerned that Easy cd creator might still cause problems. It might have messed up the registry.Let me know bud.
