      Stonghold-Help!

I recently purchased Stronghold for my PC. I decided to backup my archive of games do the fact of my children who love to destory EVERYTHING. Anyway, when I go to back up the disc, my reader will begin to read the disc for a little while than crap out. I've tried every single program out there that I could find. I mean everything. But still it will not read the disc. When the disc is in the drive it begins to speed up then slow down. It will do that until I eject it. There is nothing wrong with my reader it's brand new and I have yet to have a problem with any other application running in the drive. I do believe that the disc is protected by Safedisk v2. If someone could please help me out I would be very pleased. Thank you -Jitters

      Lightbulb

      Good day to you.
      1. What is the model of your drives..reader/writer and OS?
      2. You can use clonyxxl to scan your disc to find if it has a protection on it...just do a search on web for clonyxxl

One Ring to rule them all, One Ring to find them,
One Ring to bring them all and in the darkness bind them.

Well SafeDisc2 uses large numbers of read errors at the start of the disc. If your drive is having trouble with them then I would suggest trying a fast dump. Using either Alcohol 120% or Daemon-Tools in conjunction with DiscJuggler, CloneCD, etc.

If this does not work, I do not know what to do with this cd. But in hopes that it will (it worked perfectcly for me) here are instructions:

      1. Install the game on your computer.
      2. Download Daemon Tools (http://www.gameburnworld.com/CDProte...Toolsv3.33.exe)
      3. Install it.
      4. Run Daemon Tools... you won't see anything pop up when you run it but a little Cd with a lightning bolt will appear down in the lower right hand corner of your screen (where all your programs that are running are shown).
      5. Right click on the tiny Cd, and under emulation click Safedisk.
      6. Now with the original Cd in your drive, run the game briefly and then exit out.
      7. Without moving the original Cd at all, open Clone CD (and don't exit out of Daemon Tools either).
      8. Now you should be able to copy the cd with Clone CD successfully.
      9. You may need to also run Daemon Tools while you run the game(because the Safedisk Version is rather high).

But if you can copy the Cd with these instructions, and if you even need Daemon Tools to run it, i'm sure it will work because this game is Safedisk v2.5 or 2.6. And I've copied games that were Safedisk v2.8 (with the same technique).

Yeah, the above is just a fast dump as I already suggested.

You can use the same technique using just Alcohol 120%.
