Unhappy Please help. Splinter cell & serious sam 2

      Hello,

A bit new to all this. I have downloaded Alchol (1.4.3) and Alcoholer (using with Clonny xxl). I am trying to back up my original Splinter Cell & Serious Sam 2 before the kids wreck them. I am using Windows XP and have a Samsung CD writer/DVD combi. When Alcoholer and Clony xxl have scanned the disc and Alcoholer kicks in, all box's that should be ticked....have been. It goes through the normal process of reading then i remove the original for a blank CD and it writes o.k. When i come to install the game all is fine too. But when i try and play it all i get is the title ,stays on for about 30 seconds, then goes off and no game at all. Windows XP then informs me of an error regarding an exe. file????????

Any comments, of a constructive nature would be nice.

      Lee big lad.

Have U checked 2 see if Ignore Media Type option is checked in options

If i rem right the error message is cause the disc might be played in a burner

Checkin that option in Alcohol should enable it 2 play.I had the same with The Thing, copied ok but wouldn't play till i checked that option

      Hope it Helps

      Hi Banzibaby

I cannot find "ignore media type" in Alcohol. Bypass EFM Error is ticked but Burn "RMPS" to recordable media is shadded and unable to tick. Back up copy still does the same install o.k but will only show title screen.

Thanks for the input anyway. Anymore thoughts????

      Hi Banzibaby

Sorry to be a pain. I have found the ignore media type, in options as you correctly pointed out (under Emulation). I think this was auto ticked but will try again.

      Thank you once more.

Lee big lad 1st you need to find out if you drive can back up these games with the protection..
I had a look @clonecd homepage at samsung drives listed there and these two combos SM-332B & SN-308(laptop) can back up those game's you have..
In other words the drive needs to be a 2sheep unit.
Samsung@ clonecd and also check here for you drive Alcohol

ps: Are you using same drive to read the orginal disk?
      Tanx You!

      Hi Gents,

Thanx 4 the support. I am using a Samsung CDRW/DVD SM-332B ( as mentioned by Rastabt supported by Clone but have not tried Clone). Yes i am using the same drive to read the original disk. And i am using Windows XP Home Edition version 2002.

      Thanx again.

@Lee big lad no need to try clonecd, since you got Alcohol it should backup Serious Sam 2 which is Safedisc 2.51.021/ Safedisc 2.60.052 depends on the version of game I could well be wrong on that protection.
Also what version of alcohol are you using?

      Rastabt,

I am using Alcohol version 1.4.3 (build 518) trial version. But according to their web site my writer is not supported 120% for use with the software?

      Cheers.

Might need to open a few cans of Red Stripe if coasters pile up anymore....

Your writer is a 0 sheep model. Your chances of getting a working copy with alcohol even with Bypass efm error aren't great.

In all probability the best you can do is an emulation copy made with CloneCD (i.e. a copy made with emulation of the weak sectors that will work so long as you have CloneCD on your system with hide cdr media enabled from the tray).

See here for how to go about it.

    10. Or you can try to Enable SaveDisk v2 emulation
