Use securom new (not securom new 4.8x) settings to copy this one with alcohol.
(In fact, it's the last securom game that can be copied successfully without twinsector patching or emu methods being used.)

Hi all.Hope some1 can help me here.I bought the thing as an exchange game, but am trying 2 back it up.I used Clonyxxl(new version) & all it found was damaged sectors. So i tried using Alcohol 120% 2 back it up using the secureRom4x profile(i think). It installs ok, but when triying 2 run the game it checks the cd & then crashes itself with this mess
THETHING caused an invalid page fault in
module THETHING.EXE at 01af:004a3e65.
Have I used the wrong settings or would nero be able 2 back it up
Thanx in advance for any help.Had a look through the game list here, but didnt see the thing
Cheers

Nah. You don't need RMPS for The Thing, just a good subs reader and writer.
Cheers stone_burner.I got a liteon 522452.Heard it one ofthe better drives for backing up disc.Man 16 audio cds & 10 data cds i burned last nite, so i try the thing again 2day
Thanks Again Bud.Ialso bought Unreal tourny 2003, even though me system bit slow 4 it.Read Ur post & others & seems the only way 2 back that up will be 2 use a no cd exe(dont like using them)
But will try it anyway.Any advice on that 1 would be great
Much Appreciated

The read error at the end is normal.
You trying to run the copy from a burner or a cd/dvd rom?
If you're running from a burner, you need to have Ignore media type (or clone's hide) running.
Am running it from CDRW burner.Do i just tick that option in alcohol(Ignore media type).I switched it off after readin probs with it.Will try it the now.Fingers crossed
Cheers 4 getting back bud
