Question Help backing up a PS2 game on a neo 2 or 3 modchip.

I need help backing up a PS2 game on a DVD+R with a neo 2 or 3 modchip. I tried burning a game called soul calibur 2 with DVD decryptor but doesn't wana work on my ps2. I'm thinking i have to change the lba.

I also tried to create an image of the game as well as changing the lba but it won't finish successfully. Is there maybe a program that will do this?

Or is there maybe a different solution?

I dont think its possible to copy to DVD+R.
I think that u can only copy ps2 games to
      DVD-R discs.

v5 consoles and above are able to play DVD+R format.

There are many software programs that can back up PS2 games. Check out some of our tutorials here

My mod chip is either a neo 2.2 or 3 one of the two. My ps2 version is v5. Model No. SCPH-30001 R.

I use the following boot methods for my ps2 backups...

      Booting PS2 Backups
      • Insert GS2 CD1
      • Power off the PS2 for 5 seconds
      • Turn on the machine - boot to GS2 main menu
      • Select Start Game
      • Select Without Codes
      • When prompted press eject
      • Swap GS2 disc with your PS2 backup
      • Press eject to close tray
      • Press x
      • The game will now load

Booting protected PS2 backups (EA Method)
      • Insert the GS2 CD1
      • Power off the PS2 for 5 seconds
      • Press and hold the reset button - machine will boot
      • At GS2 Main Menu screen let go of reset
      • Select game
      • Select without codes
      • Ignore the prompt to insert game disc
      • Press x
      • Game will now load

      I burnt Soul Calibur 2 (NTSC) on a TDK DVD+R using Stomp RecordNow MAX version 3.0. I followed a tutorial @ http://www.dvd-***********/article.php?13.0 .

My backup has the same # of bytes as the original copy.

Original Soul Calibur 2 (NTSC) - 4,343,595,008 bytes
(Backup) Soul Calibur 2 (NTSC) - 4,343,595,008 bytes

I need to know the boot method or what i have to do to make my ps2 DVD backups work on my neo 2.2/3 modchip.

      Thank you

      I tried this method here...

How to boot DVD-R (only) with AR2/GS2 V2x
Thanks to NightStalker for this method!
      • Insert AR2/GS2
      • Power down console, wait 5 sec, and restart console by pressing and holding reset. (Dont let go)
      • After GS2 completely loads, swap with original dvd game (high TOC)
      • Wait about 15 sec and select Gameshark codes (or ar2 codes) and turn on or off any code on any game.
      • Press start, select with codes and press x to load game.
      • You will see a black screen saying "updating codes please wait" at this time release the reset button, tray will eject, swap with backup, tray closes and game loads.

this method doesn't work for me, i have a v5 ps2 and my tray does not automatically eject so can somebody please help?
