Paul,
I followed your instructions for backing up a PS2 DVD and it appeared to work. My PS2 has a Mod Chip with a NeoKey and GameShark 2. How do I get the backup to play? Is there a trick to it? I can backup my games that are on Compact Disc just fine, it is the DVD format that is giving me some trouble. Thanks for any assistance.

@Tonyz which format did you use and was it on a RW disk?..
There aRE a few disk on the market are crap to say the least in XBOX and PSX consoles.
A friend of mines uses Mirror DVD's 4x for his game back up np. And this media Arita Ritek x4 is fine in PSX.. My advice is try it on a RW disk 1st to see if you still have this problem.
Tanx You!

As far as I know, the NeoKey USB mod does not boot DVD based backups.

So if NeoKey doesn't work.... do I have to put a different modchip in? Or just get something else to boot the game?Originally Posted by psx_paul
NeoKey doesn't work. I know that nothing else will boot the game so I think that a new modchip will be the solution.
Is there anywhere I can purchase a pre-chipped PS2? Im in USA
I have the NeoKey now, should I put a Magic V or a Mesiah in it? If so do I need to take the old mod out? Will this solve my issues?
Yes this should solve ur issues. You'll have to unsolder the wire you soldered and then solder the messiah or magic.
If you're looking for premods then just run a search on google saying 'Premodded Playstation 2 USA'. You'll get many results and price varies in different places. Also I don't know if they're reliable or not so order at your own risk. I don't think you should have any problems though.
I appreciate all your help!
