Hi, welcome to the forum scottus

The silver PS2 is a v9. You will need a modchip of some sort in order to play any kind of PS2 backup. I would suggest looking at a Messiah 2. Post back if you need any help on locating installers.

Follow any of the tutorials posted either here or on my site for making your PS2 backups.

The PS2 v9 should be able to play DVD-R, DVD-RW, DVD+R and DVD+RW. What format you create depends on what DVD burner you have.

      I hope that this helps

To help us find the version we'll need some info from you. You'll have to give the model number. On the black sticker at the back of your ps2 it'll say SCPH and some numbers, my model number is SCPH 39001 so that means mine is a version 7 ps2. We'll need those 5 #'s from your ps2 in order to determine it's version.

sounds like you may have a pre v5 console (v1/v/v3/v4). If that is the case then DVD+R will not be recognised on it

check out what version PS2 you have here (page needs some updating )
