      some ps2 backups work?

I having a problem with some backups. Some games will work fine and others will not load up at all or if they do usually freeze up within minutes.

I've searched the forums and read alot of the tutorials. Its all basically use whatever program to make an image file and burn. Do some games have some sort of protection and need a patch or why would some work and others not?

For all I used the same media, burner, and software. If I formated XP in ntfs help at all so they image file wouldnt have to be split up?

To make sure they are not encrypted, I put them in dvd decrypter first. So far none are.

I own official copy of these games.
Simpsons hit & run, sega soccer slam, nfs: hp2, and castlevania worked.
true crime, silent hill 3, nfs: underground didn't work.

pioneer dvr-105 writer w latest firmware.

      Thanks

Ok, a couple of questions: -
      1. What modchip have you got ?
      2. What software you using to backup your games?
      3. Are they all DVD based games, or are a couple of them CD based ?

Sorry I guess that would help eh

      1. tried using alcohol 120%, nero, recordnowmax
I tend to use alcohol because I thought maybe with the other image recording software, it might not be copying the purposful errors on the disc. Aside from that isn't that essentially what they do, just make a copy of the disc with a .iso, .bin, .md5 ...?
      2. dms3 chip (latest bios)
      3. They are all dvd-rom

      dupez (burns at 1x)

Doesnt matter which of the 2 media. If it doesn't work on one, it won;t work on the other. If it works on the one, why bother trying out the other

Seems to me the more mainstream ultra popular games have more of a tendency not to work.

      Gazix,

      memorex (version 2.0)

I've had a "little bit" of problems with those DVD-R's. (Most worked)
I have sinced switched to RitekG04 and burn the games @ 4X and have not had any problems.
In fact I just backed up NFS underground. It's been working flawlessly!
I also use a Pioneer A05 with latest firmware and also use the DMS3 modchip.

BTW. I use DVD Decrypter to do my backups.

      Regards,

Ummmm...... couple of things. Use good media like verbatim, ritek, tdk, princo. And if that still doesn't work then you'll probably need to adjust your laser. I know of some guides that'll help.

Thumbs up Alcohol 120% - no worries

      G'day,

I used Alcohol 120% to read & write True Crime, it worked like a charm.

I'm having trouble with The Simpsons hit & run, What did you use for that? I've tried Alcohol & DVD Decrypter, no joy.

I backed up my NFS: UG ans at first I couldn't get past the THX screen. Later on, I couldn't get passed the screen with the NFS: UG and a loading bar. Then later on, I got passed it and played my first race on it. I did OK. When I went to do drifting, it froze again. I'm out of DVD's, so I'm going to stick with playing with the original.
