      Pioneer 106 not supported

I was hoping to back up my daughters PS2 games with either Primo or Record Now Max, but unfortunately my drive isn't supported.
Anyone had success with alternative software?
Thought about trying DVD Decryptor, but can't test as yet, as I need to chip the console.
Incidently, she has the new 'Silver' version, is this ok to chip?

      Many thanx
      Emma

Yes, the "silver" console is a v9, which you can chip with a Messiah2 v1.31 or v1.33. The DMS3 team are also bringing out a revised chip with v9 support shortly.

Just tried the Sonic Engine, but still no luck Thanx for the link anyway.
Had a look at the Record Now Max (Platinum) site for supported drives and unfortunately mine isn't listed.

So for the time being, could you suggest an alternative please?

Thanx for the info regarding chipping, that's most helpful
Thinking of having it done fairly soon, so that's something I can request.
Typically, what can I expect to pay for this in the UK?

      Most appreciated

Emma, if you feel real game, just find some editor that will allow editing of a dll or exe file, find pxdrv.dll file in the windows/system32 folder, do a search for 105 (for the Pioneer 105) and change to 106. I had to do similar to get the latest (and earlier ones) to see my LiteOn 52x burner.
      Cheers,

I use Recordnow Max with my 106 and it works fine with the latest px engine update.
Cost of chipping your ps 2 depends on what chip you want tto use but usually its around 70 to 90 quid.If you let us now what area your in I might be able to help with some info.

Strange that ? I applied the sonic engine and still Primo and RNMax wont recognise it.

Did a search for exe dll editor and all it came up with was the 'PE Explorer' which costs over 100$

I'm in the Mansfield area.......come on you Stags!

You can probably do the edit with a free hex editor, the one I'm currently using (very successfully when my ISP's proxy cache added varying amounts of headers to downloaded ZIP files) - is FRHED

It's smaller and less confusing than my former favourite - Hackman

      More choices?

looked at both PE explorer (30 day trial) and Hackman....but they're just a little over my head......sorry, I am a blonde after all!

Apparently there is someone in the Mansfield civic centre who chips ps2s or failing that try the local computer fair. Also Im using the pxengine408 which is older than the one posted but works fine for Recordnow Max 4.5

      Sorted!

I tried both PX Engines to no avail, but upgrading to V4.5 from 4.1 did the trick.

A Big thanx to you all for your help
