      Modchips

      Hi all,

I'm new to this. I decided to use DVD Decryptor, as I've been using it for dvds, and it's simple. I don't have a mod chip, where should I start? There seems to be quite a few out there. What do you guys find to be the most reliable of the lot? Thanks!

oops, forgot to say it's Playstation 2. I don't know which version, but I've had the system since 2001. I can look up the info though.

I'm near Chicago. Can you install these things without much trouble?

    6. #6
      ok, I have:

      model 30001
      u5
      pt15

I've looked at a lot of links for different modchips, but the installation services are ridiculously priced. I'd appreciate it if someone could tell me which place to buy from, which installation guides to use, etc. I'll report back with how it goes once I start trying to install.

      livewire,

I've worked for a electronics service company for over 10 years and would NOT recommend you do this yourself! The soldering points on a few contacts are so small it's ridicules!!! I would recommend you having it installed by a preofessional. There's a reason why it's expensive. (It's HARD)

      Thats JMO!

what's a good place to get the installation done at? Everything I've run into so far seems to be the same as far as policies and pricing goes. What about those non-solder modchips?

I can't help you there...I purchased my PS2 already premodded! I have no idea where you could go and have it done...sorry.

thanks for the link, that's better then what I've come across so far. Is DMS3 preferable to the Messiah 2? I see that there's a firmware option for DMS3, is that important? They both seem like excellant chips.

I know a guy who installed an XBox mod chip himself, and he'll install a PS2 one for me for free, provided it's not a ton more difficult then the Xbox one. Does anyone here have a link to detailed installation instructions that they'd recommend? Then I could show this guy.

      Uk modchip installer?

Paul, I notice you're in the UK, as am I. Would you recommend anybody in the Uk to install a modchip? Is there somewhere these people advertise?
