ps2 wont play games anymore

i have a unchipped ps2
it has stopped playing ps2 games
the start up screen starts but then it just makes aclicking noise
however cds and dvds play ok

any advice

As my good buddy bighap from file forums posted in his answer over there - try a cleaning disc, your laser could just be dirty.

just a quick question. Was this ps2 modded at one point? If it wasn't then why don't you just return it to sony. (your warranty sticker has to be intact though)

if the cleaning doesn't work like psx_paul suggested then it may be ur laser. Try the azimuth adjusment. I'll tell u the site for it if ur interested. pm me.

What Version PS2 do you have? I have a V4, which came with Gran Turismo and heard their lasers go out quicker than the new models.

Also as other memeber pointed out there is a wheel adjustment inside the PS2 that you can adjust which might help. I saw it on Tech TV 'X play' and if you go to Tech Tv's website they should have a post with the instructions there.
Or let me know I have it bookmarked on my home computer.

IF your ps2 is fritzed ......if you live in the U.K. and your warrenty has expired then you CAN get a DOORSTOP exchange by sony's couriers for £65 for a 3 month warrentied reconditioned PS2 and brand new DUAL SHOCK 2 controller they will exchange within 1 working week of PAYMENT being accepted by credit card or direct debit etc


I got mine exchanged and im pleased with the service

My ps2 had an intermittent fault of freezing up and stalling ?!
