new to burning audio cd-r

Hi everyone I want to make some audio cd's with my burner so I have a couple of questions First of all do I use different cdr's to burn music as I have only made straight VCD to VCD so far.Do I need software to burn CD's bought in the shop.Can I burn a CD already burned on a cdr straight to cdr.Any good brands anyone can suggest for audio only.And on a different subject can anyone explain the DMA enabled/disabled options to me.Any comments are very welcome.All those who have replied to my other posts have helped no end so many thanks I'm learning loads.

Yes you can. But since we're talking about audio it's a very bad idea.
1st) rip the burned cdr with eac (check for no errors)
2nd) rip the wav file(s) as audio track(s)

Dont use cdrs labeled "audio only".
These are for Hi Fi copiers only and not for use in computer burners.
If you buy any by accident and cant get a refund try burning at a slow speed ie 2x or its Coaster time.
I use memorex mainly( not audio only!) with about 99% success for all my cpying needs.
Its trial and error though, as some brands seem to work better with certain burners.

the cheapest you can get with a manufacturers name
printed on them will do just fine.
Discrite do very well at £18 per 100 blanks on a spool

Audio only CDRs have data written on the ATRIP so
hi-fi stores can rip people off who have been silly enough
to buy stand alone audio cd writers for their Hi-fi. Stand
alone audio cd writers read the ATRIP and will only write to
audio cdrs (unless you drag the tray out and swop the audio
cdr for a data cdr just before it starts to write)
They are basically the same product as Data cdrs, just at a silly price.

Nero burning rom is just about the best software to write
cdrs with........the audio section will allow you to drag CD tracks,
mp3s, or wave files and will sort everthing out and write an
audio cd.

Hi there,

The biggest problem with cdr's is their reliability. Some discs will have problems in car CD players. Discs by TDK are excellent, but I only use reliable unbranded discs - they are so much cheaper!

EAC & Audiograbber are the best rippers. You will need a program like CDRwin to burn the ripped wav file to the cdr.

Feurio is probably regarded as the best audio copying software, especially with damaged discs, although it is unable to copy multi-mode discs at present. These are discs which have video content.

Nero is very easy to use and will copy these multi-mode discs.

Do not burn faster than x4 speed!

If your burner does 32x and your media is 32x burn at 32x or whatever.
Its the read speed that can be critical when reading "bad" discs.
If youve got a burnproof writer or a high spec PC then
"Burn Baby Burn!"

Unfortunately I don't have one of these modern burn-proof writers.
