Messy and annoying audio

I am having problems with audio from divx films and also games.

The sound clarity is good but there is alot of crackle in the background and every so often there is a popping noise. I have tried to elimanate the noise using the "Creative EAX console clean up" but it doesnt seem to make much difference.

All audio files (Albums etc) are fine. Also the noise seems to get worse when the image on the screen is brighter.

This also happens regardless of whether I use Windows media player, Creative media player or DivX player.

Any idea's ???

sounds like a resource problem; please provide us your hardware specs; also which PCI slot and IRQ is in use for your sound card; And is the IRQ shared? If shared, with which devices?
