Still the VST licencing issues with Steinberg have not been resolved- and so the VST enabler and the LADSPA-VST plugin (for Linux) are delivered separately, and with a different licence. Without them, Audacity is a kitten, not a tiger:

Nice to see an updated stable release, but a pity the VST issues couldn't be resolved in a more tidy manner first.

Not unique though - a similar (well, slightly different) situation exists with GIF support in "The GIMP".


PS. It should be possible to knock up a fairly decent de-clicker in "nyquist" the built-in plugin language. The simplest de-clicker plugin would look for a sharp fall, and dip the few milliseconds before it (few, if any, real life wanted sounds have such a sharp ****y). Checking for the rise as well may improve accuracy. A totally different logic to digital de-clicking, which looks for aberrant sample deviations.
