havent really used pro that much

MP3 of course.MP3Pro is MPEG2 Layer 3 and not MPEG1 Layer 3 encoding...

i prefer mp3 with LAME standard setting, but i take .mpc (higher speed and a better quality)
Mp3 is just better right now. There are very little progs and hardware for the PRO but, maybe in the future because of the size difference PRO might be better. The name of the game in computing is and will always be STORAGE. How to pack alot of data in as little space as possible.
i tried mp3pro but i didn't get really good results so i prefer mp3 within these two codecs
but i think ogg vorbis is much better than both and i hope it will become more popular

I wonder if the bitrate was the same with MP3 (ie 192k), how things would be? Both codecs have major and minor points right now.
MP3: + Better Quality at higher bitrates than 128K
- Larger file size than the MP3Pro files
- Depends a lot on the encoder used
MP3Pro: + Rather Smaller than the classic MP3
+ Near MP3 quality at high bitrates (80 / 96k)
- Needs specfic decoder for decoding
- Quality loss (at decoding) while making an Audio CD from MP3Pro
- Rather new method and not yet popular (like VQ)
- It could have higher bitrate options to choose.
- Not many encoders / decoders right now to choose.
Anyway the results will be seen in future...
