      mp3pro to mp3

Can the quality of mp3pro be retained by converting to mp3 at a higher bitrate? Does the fact it uses a special decoder make convertion possible?

    2. #2
yes but what i am asking is that because mp3pro sounds like **** without the right decoder is it possible to convert to another format and keep the "special" quality.

if it's decompressed to wave for example, will what i hear on the wave version be the same as the mp3pro version? is the special decryption included when converted to another format? thats the main question?

      Yeah !!!
You can be anything you want to be, just turn yourself into anything you think that you could ever be

Warez are NOT allowed here !

guys, i'm not really asking for your opinion on what it sounds like i'm asking for help in converting mp3pro to mp3.

i don't like mp3pro myself and i just want to convert it to mp3 so i don't have to worry about the decoder stuff. i want to play a decent quality mp3 anywhere without having to install new codecs.

i have heard what an mp3pro song sounds like in media player (as the codec is not installed), in winamp it sounds much better. if i convert mp3pro to mp3 is it gonna sound like the winamp version or the media player version.

i can't test this myself right which is why i am asking!

and by the way i think mp3pro sounds great with thomsons player and if u play in non pro player it should be like ordinary mp3 just lower bitrate i also have pro plugin for winamp and it sounds not good

to be honest, if you can't play mp3pro outwith a player with codec and you can't burn the mp3s or transfer them to a system with a decoder, then whats the point?

i'll get the thomsons player for now, but i don't see myself making any progress with mp3pro.

      ok,

i outputted an mp3pro to a wave file using the winamp disk writer plugin in. the high quality is retained in the wave. this can be easily compared but loading up the mp3pro version and disabling the enhancement option in the plugin configuration screen.

there is a clear audible difference between the wave and mp3pro (with no enhancement).

      another update on that

i converted the file in nero too using the file encoder. the quality is excellent on the final wave.

can't test the speed as i am encoding a movie right now!!!

oke but than jou must make first a wave file and than back to a normal mp3 file but I want to do this at one's mp3pro to mp3

      Talking

well, you can do that in nero, thats no problem.

i got you a wave file, stop complaining!!!!!!! is that much more effort to do a batch wav to mp3 afterwards, it has to decompress to a wave anyway, so you don't save that much time

I´m not secure about the mp3pro format cause the player must be prepared to deal with.
I have a WINAMP plugin that writes MP3 and also the one that reads MP3PRO. Maybe using them both you can do that convertion. I intent to test it later, but first I must find or encode something in MP3PRO.
I´ll return once I have the answer, ok?

i tested it fully using file encoding mode in nero. the output quality is identical to the mp3pro quality. if you do it to mp3, of course, you need to use a high bit rate. i haven't gone through different bitrates yet i just used 192 for normal mp3.

its easy to test, just turn of the encoder options in winamp and listen to your new wave/mp3 and then to mp3pro version. the mp3pro versions sounds dull and horrendous and the wave/mp3 sounds bright like it the mp3pro turned on!
