Here’s the key though. I tried this on Region Free with mixed results:

HP DVD Writer 400C—Played fine.
Toshiba DVD Video Player SD-3750—Total lockup. Had to unplug it and plug it back in to get the disc out.
CyberHome CH-DVD300—Played fine
Symphonic WF104—Would not recognize disc
Tohei DVD220S (12VDC unit in the ride)—Played fine.

Changing to Region 1 allowed me to play in all the units without trouble. So set it for your region, what the heck.. I left the other tabs alone. This took about 3 minutes.
